UBI Testing HIV Vaccine in Brazil

Brazil is currently conducting a Phase I/II clinical trial of an experimental HIV vaccine manufactured by United Biomedical Inc., Hauppauge, New York.

Enrollment began in February 1995 at two centers: Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro.

Each center is following 15 volunteers and three additional subjects who will receive a placebo in the blinded study. All volunteers are at low risk of HIV infection.

The trial is intended to evaluate different dose and vaccination schedules. Details of the trial were announced at the Eighth Annual Meeting of the National Cooperative Vaccine Development Groups for AIDS (NCVDG), held February 11-15,...
