Vaccination Efforts Are Inadequate for At-Risk Populations

A large proportion of men at risk for hepatitis B virus (HBV) are not vaccinated, despite the availability of a vaccine.

Healthcare providers in numerous settings are missing opportunities to vaccinate individuals at risk for HBV infection, according to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report ("Undervaccination for Hepatitis B among Young Men Who Have Sex with Men - San Francisco and Berkeley, California, 1992-1993," MMWR, March 15, 1996;45(10):215-217).
