According to an abstract submitted by the authors at the annual meeting for the Association of American Physicians, American Society for Clinical Investigation, and American Federation for Clinical Research, entitled Biomedicine '96: Medical Research from Bench to Bedside, held May 3-6, 1996, in Washington DC, "Transfusion related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious complication of hemotherapy. During blood storage, lipids are generated that prime neutrophils (J Lab Clin Med 1994, 124:684).
