PAI Inhibitors Enhance Clot Lysis Without Causing Bleeding

Xenova Group plc, Slough, United Kingdom (U.K.), announced the publication of the scientific paper describing the biochemical and pharmacological activity of the inhibitors of plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI).

In the May 1996 issue of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, a team of scientists from Xenova and University College, London, U.K., reported results on a low molecular weight chemical originally isolated from a Streptomycete, and on two of a series of synthetic derivatives.

The studies demonstrated in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo that inhibition of the activity of PAI enhanced clot lysis and protected against thrombosis formation without causing...
