FDA Approves Leukine Liquid as Colony Stimulating Factor

Immunex Corp., Seattle, Washington, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a liquid, multiple-dose formulation of Leukine (sargramostim).

Leukine, a yeast-expressed granulocyte-macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), has been available in the United States since 1991. "This new approval substantially upgrades Leukine's marketability and broadens its customer appeal," said Len Stevens, Immunex. "For the first time, Leukine has a competitive advantage, offering customers a choice of dosage forms including the new multi-use product."
