"Factors Influencing the In Vitro Inhibition of Human Hematopoietic Progenitor Growth By Dengue Virus."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "We previously reported that clinical isolates of dengue-3 virus induced an in vitro inhibition of human hematopoietic progenitor cell growth from cord blood mononuclear cells (CBMNCs) whereas H-87 laboratory strain had no effect. In order to address the mechanism of such an inhibition, CBMNCs were inoculated with either clinical isolate (29-56) or H-87 strain for 2 hours, then seeded in liquid culture for up to 8 days in presence of interleukin-3 (IL-3), IL-6, and stem cell factor.
