According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 31st Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of the Liver, held August 25-29, 1996, in Geneva, Switzerland, "Epidemiological and experimental studies have now supplied questionable results about the role of saliva as vehicle of HCV transmission. Patients: We investigate the prevalence of viral RNA both in serum and saliva samples, collected on the same day, from 31 anti-HCV positive subjects (M 28; F 3; 23-63 yrs; m = 34.7 ± 10.2).
