Heat Treatment Step Added for Dual Viral Inactivation of Factor VIII Product

Alpha Therapeutic Corp., Los Angeles, California, has obtained clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to include the addition of a heat treatment step for the solvent detergent treated Antihemophilic Factor (AHF) product.

AHF was developed in an ongoing effort to provide an added measure of viral safety for plasma derived biopharmaceutical products. Alphanate Antihemophilic Factor (Human), Solvent Detergent/Heat Treated is the first AHF product in the U.S. that incorporates solvent detergent and heat treatment methods of viral inactivation.
