Meeting Reflects Interest in Improving Transfusion Safety

Although blood products are quite safe in the United States and Europe, the blood banking community is striving to make blood transfusion as close to "zero risk" as possible.

The commitment and concern was evident as about 270 industry representatives shared research and ideas on a wide range of related issues at the Blood Safety & Screening Conference, sponsored by Cambridge Healthtech Institute, April 14-16, 1997, McLean, Virginia.
