LEH Modulates Inflammatory Response of Cells

Liposome-encapsulated hemoglobin (LEH) can modulate production of tumor necrosis factor-(alpha) (TNF-(alpha)) from mononuclear phagocytes.

This may be performed through a posttranscriptional effect, said Alan S. Rudolph, Ph.D., Center for Bio/Molecular Science and Engineering, Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C., and colleagues ("Liposome-Encapsulated Hemoglobin Modulates Lipopolysaccharide-Induced tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha Production in Mice," Critical Care Medicine, 1997;25:460-468).
