Expansion Patent and SBIR Grants Awarded for Stem Cell Expansion Ex Vivo

CellPro, Inc., Seattle, Washington, announced that it has been granted a U.S. patent covering methods of ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic precursor, or stem, cells.

Ex vivo expansion of stem cells is important for a number of clinical applications, including retroviral-mediated gene transfer for use in certain gene therapy applications and the production of antigen-presenting dendritic cells, which are under study for use as anti-cancer vaccines.
