"Solution-Phase Detection of Hepatitis C Virus RNA in Explanted Livers with Different Kinds of Cirrhosis."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Falk Symposium, No 102 on Cholestatic Liver Diseases, held October 1-2, 1997, in Freiburg, Germany, "Aims: HCV infection in a patient before liver transplantation is mainly based on the detection of HCV RNA or anti-HCV antibodies in blood. The present study was undertaken to correlate this 'blood borne' diagnosis with the detection of viral RNA in liver tissue and to determine a role of HCV in cirrhosis not attributed to HCV infection.
