Mycobacterium Infection at Repeated Injection Site Seen

French clinicians report a case of Mycobacterium peregrinum infection in a diabetic at the site of continuous insulin injections several months after therapy was discontinued.

"The case of our patient illustrates the possible long clinical latency of M. peregrinum infection," Christian Pagnoux and colleagues from Paris' Hospital Necker-Enfants Malades wrote ("Infection of Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion Site with Mycobacterium peregrinum," Diabetes Care, January 1998;21(1):191-192).
