"Determination of HIV-1 Subtypes in Polish Patients Using HMA Method. Preliminary Data."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Sixth European Conference on Clinical Aspects and Treatment of HIV Infection, held October 11-15, 1997, in Hamburg, Germany, "Background: Since 1985 when the first case of HIV infection was noted in Poland 4654 new cases were registered. In this figure 25% were women. About 75% person HIV+ were infected by intravenous drug using. Objectives: In our research we have tried to answer for the following questions: a) which subtype of HIV-1 is dominated among infected persons in Poland; b) does exist a difference in occurrence of HIV subtypes among distinct risk group of these persons' Methods: ...
