U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) researcher J. Michael Soucie and colleagues reported on what they described as the first documented transmission of HAV through clotting factor concentrates in the United States ("Hepatitis A Virus Infections Associated with Clotting Factor Concentrate in the United States," Transfusion, 1998;38:573-579).
Soucie et al. said their findings document the transmission of HAV by an antihemophilic factor VIII concentrate and implicate factor IX...
