NOD/SCID Mice Provide In Vivo Model

The use of non-obese diabetic mice with severe immunodeficiency disease is an appropriate in vivo model of chronic myelogenous leukemia biology, researchers concluded.

After a chronic phase (CP), chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) finally progresses to an accelerated phase (AP), and later to a blastic phase (BP) that results in death of the patient.

In vitro studies have provided little consensus on the kinetic abnormality underlying the myeloid expansion of CML, a neoplastic disorder that originates in a primitive hematopoietic stem cell.
