Lower Rate of RNA Positivity Seen in Older Hemophiliacs

Hepatitis G virus (HGV) viremia did not affect alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels in Dutch hemophilia patients.

Eveline P. Mauser-Bunschoten, University Hospital Utrecht, Netherlands, and colleagues studied the prevalence of HGV-RNA and HGV-E2 antibodies in a cohort of Dutch hemophilia patients in terms of clotting products used, patient age, and coinfection with hepatitis C ("Hepatitis G Virus RNA and Hepatitis G Virus-E2 Antibodies in Dutch Hemophilia Patients in Relation to Transfusion History," Blood, September 15, 1998;92:2164-2168).
