IgM-BS-ELISA Is Efficient for Detecting Dengue Antibodies

Researchers have developed an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detecting antibodies to dengue viruses which is highly sensitive.

L. Kittigul, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, and colleagues adapted a biotin-streptavidin system to an immunoglobulin M (IgM)-capture ELISA for detection of dengue antibodies in human sera ("Immunoglobulin M-Capture Biotin-Streptavidin Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay for Detection of Antibodies to Dengue Viruses," American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, September 1998;59(3):352-356).

They developed this assay by purifying high titers of antibodies to flavivirus by ion-exchange chromatography...
