"Determination of Blood Loss During Endoscopic Resection of the Prostate."

According to an abstract submitted by the author to the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, held October 18-20, 1998, in Orlando, Florida, "Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is a frequent procedure for benign hypertrophy of the prostate especially in an elderly population. Therefore patients with complex medical histories are treated. In this retrospective investigation a consecutive patient sample was analyzed to define risk factors for bleeding in order to optimize the perioperative transfusion regime. 457 consecutive patients for TURP were studied.
