According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 6th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections, held January 31 - February 4, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois, "Background: Monitoring FHV incidence (Inc) in blood donors is important for estimating risk of transfusion and optimizing donor recruitment strategies to minimize donations by seroconverting (SC) donors.
