"A Prospective Analysis of the Pattern of Immune Reconstitution After Haploidentical CD34+ Peripheral Stem Cell Transplantation in Children."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 40th Annual American Society of Hematology Meeting, held December 4-8, 1998, in Miami Beach, Florida, "Transplantation of megadoses of highly purified CD34 positively selected haploidentical peripheral stem cells has been performed in a protocol for pediatric patients who lack a suitable conventional donor. Little data have existed thus far on the pattern of immune reconstitution after transplant. The purpose of this pilot study was therefore to prospectively analyze the pattern of immune reconstitution at monthly intervals by flow cytometry and by proliferation assays. 13 children with malignant (n = 11) and non-malignant diseases...
