Asiaticoside Shows In Vitro and In Vivo Activity

A. Shukla and colleagues of India's Central Drug Research Institute studied the activity of asiaticoside, isolated from Centella asiatica, in normal and delayed-type wound healing ("In vitro and in vivo Wound Healing Activity of Asiaticoside Isolated from Centella asiatica," J Ethnopharmacol April 1999;65(1):1-11).
In guinea pig punch wounds topical applications of 0.2 percent solution of asiaticoside produced 56 percent increase in hydroxyproline, 57 percent increase in tensile strength, increased collagen content, and better epithelialization, the...
