Imipenem/Cilastatin Has Nephroprotective Effect in BMT

Imipenem/cilastatin reduced the incidence of cyclosporin A-induced nephrotoxicity in bone marrow transplant recipients.

Panos S. Savvides and colleagues, Department of Clinical Care Research, New England Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, evaluated the nephroprotective effective of imipenem/cilastatin (I/C) undergoing bone marrow transplantation (BMT) while receiving continuous infusion cyclosporin A (CsA) to maintain a fixed whole blood level.
