TB Screening Needed at Dialysis Centers

A relatively high incidence of tuberculosis infection among hemodialysis patients points to the need for TB screening at dialysis centers, according to a report from the New Jersey University of Medicine and Dentistry.

Researchers from the facility studied the incidence of tuberculosis, tuberculin skin testing (TST) practices, and infection control practices at outpatient hemodialysis centers ("Tuberculosis in Hemodialysis Patients in New Jersey: A Statewide Study," Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, September 1999;20(9):607-609).
