Critical T-Cell Threshold for Graft-vs.-Host-Disease Prevention

Researchers from Germany demonstrated a residual T-cell content that is safe for the prevention of graft-versus-host disease after stem cell transplantation in some pediatric patients.

S.M. Muller and colleagues at Germany's University Ulm, Children's Hospital, said the aim of their study was to reduce the rate of graft failure after HLA non-identical stem cell transplantation by using G-CSF mobilized CD34+ peripheral blood progenitor cells (PBPC), either in combination with bone marrow or as single grafts.
