Findings Support Use of Humate-P to Treat Bleeding Episodes

The use of a clotting factor concentrate product may successfully treat urgent bleeding in patients with von Willebrand disease (vWD), according to researchers in the United States.

Humate-P is a plasma-derived factor VIII/von Willebrand factor (vWF) concentrate that contains high molecular weight multimers of vWF, noted M.D. Phillips and colleagues.

Phillips et al. presented their research at the 1999 Annual Meeting of the National Hemophilia Foundation held November 4-6, 1999, in Dallas, Texas, USA. The title of their study was "Successful Treatment of Urgent Life or Limb Threatening Bleeding or Emergent Surgery in Von Willebrand Disease (VWD)...
