Study Shows Invader Technology Offers Advantages Over Polymerase Chain Reaction

Third Wave Technologies, Inc., Madison, Wisconsin, announced findings from a study published in Clinical Chemistry comparing its Invader operating system with allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for detection of the factor V (Leiden) mutation, which is associated with deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms.

Conducted by the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin, the study concluded that genotyping using the Invader operating system has significant advantages over PCR-based methods.
