Safety Devices Adopted at University Hospital

Employee involvement eased adoption of safety devices at a University Hospital in the United States.

"Continuous quality improvement (CQI) teams provide employees an opportunity to take an active part in improving work processes and the products and services provided," reported Trina Girimont from the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. "The CQI process at Shands is known as FADE2 (Focus, Analyze, Develop, Execute, and Evaluate). A multidisciplinary CQI team focusing on blood and body fluid exposures began investigating sharp object injuries."
