Carotid Artery Diameter Can Be Useful Prognostic Factor

An enlarged carotid artery may portend high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disorders, at least in a Japanese population, cardiologists report.

"Few studies have examined whether there is a relationship between carotid arterial diameter and cardiovascular risk factors in a large general population," T. Mannami and colleagues at Japan's National Cardiovascular Center noted in the journal Stroke.
