Conventional Warfarin Response Markers Adequate

Monitoring patient response to the anticoagulant warfarin by conventional methods provides the most consistent results, although alternative methods can be useful in some circumstances, researchers in Portugal report.

"Warfarin is a 4-hydroxycoumarin anticoagulant drug used for the prevention and management of thromboembolic and vascular diseases," A.C. Falcao and colleagues at the University of Coimbra explained in the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology. "Appropriate use of warfarin requires patient monitoring and dosage adjustments, to ensure its safety and efficacy."
