Double B-Cell Purging During Leukapheresis Is Safe And Effective

by Michael Greer, staff medical writer -- Combining two techniques for purging residual non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cells from blood can increase their effectiveness by several orders of magnitude, oncologists say.

M. Mohr and colleagues at Germany's University of Munster evaluated the efficacy of performing two procedures for purging malignant B cells from leukapheresis products. They aimed antibody-enriched immunobeads at B cells during immunomagnetic selection of CD34⁺ stem cells to enable the "simultaneous capture of residual B cells within a closed system."
