S.E. Beekman and colleagues at the University of Iowa surveyed more than 200 hospitals for information on their bloodborne pathogen safety precautions.
A disturbing proportion of the more than 150 responding hospitals had infrequent safety training for new employees or failed to use basic safety equipment, the authors found.
