Institute Will Offer Focused Treatment For Rare Cancer Form

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has announced plans to build the world's first institute entirely dedicated to the research and treatment of multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer affecting blood cells of the bone marrow.

UAMS's Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy will focus exclusively on pioneering research and developing innovative treatment. "This unique institute will provide advanced medical training for oncologists with a specialization in multiple myeloma, conduct pioneering research in this field, and offer state-of-the-art treatment for patients from around the world," said Dodd Wilson, MD, UAMS Chancellor.
