Blood Pressure Knowledge Is Alarmingly Low In U.S., Canada

Awareness, treatment and control of high blood pressure in the United States and Canada is alarmingly low, concludes an analysis in the November 2001 issue of the American Journal of Hypertension of two major North American population based surveys.

Investigators found the levels of awareness, treatment and control of hypertension were lower in Canada, (13%), than in the United States (25%) and more Canadian hypertensives (43-30%) thought their blood pressure was lower than it actually was.
