Lymphoproliferative conditions susceptible to malaria drugs

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - An antimalarial agent may offer hope to children suffering from autoimmune lymphoproliferative disorders, researchers in Europe report.

"Autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS) is a pediatric disease characterized by lymphoproliferation and autoimmunity," explained Dr. Jutte van der Werff ten Bosch and colleagues at the Dutch-speaking Free University of Brussels, Reine Fabiola Children's Hospital in Brussels, Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium, the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, and Tampere University in Tampere, Finland.
