Automated chemiluminescent immunoassay an alternative to NAT

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Nucleic acid amplification testing (NAT) can detect products of viral infection in the blood much earlier than serological testing can but at a higher cost in terms of time and expense. Now, a team at Abbott Laboratories has announced the development of an automated assay that could be a feasible alternative to hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA testing.
