As West Nile spreads, homeowners find ways to fight back

As West Nile infections continue to grab national headlines and command airtime on the nation's TV news, homeowners seeking cover from this season's mosquitoes are finding a lot of help.

In addition to screened porches and patios and personal repellents, which are widely available, homeowners are seeking out advice and expertise. "We've anticipated greater interest in mosquito abatement since the discovery of West Nile virus in the U.S. a few years ago," said Mike Gettler, vice president of merchandising at Lowe's. "Homeowners are anxious and are seeking more information on products and techniques."
