Fractionated TBI-based conditioning enables partially mismatched graft use

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Researchers in the United States have developed a way to treat high-risk hematological cancer patients with partially mismatched stem cell grafts.

Istvan Redei and colleagues at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia evaluated the safety and efficacy of the FITFA conditioning regimen for patients treated with stem cells from partially mismatched related donors (PMRD).

Under the right circumstances, this regimen enables effective treatment using normal doses of PMRD stem cells, Redei and coauthors reported.
