Study shows use of enoxaparin safe and effective, and cuts hospital stays

Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) announced the results of a study showing that 90 days of treatment with the blood thinner enoxaparin for acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is as safe and effective as the standard treatment, unfractionated heparin (UFH) as a bridge to warfarin, and resulted in a shorter hospital stay.

The study was presented at the American Heart Association's scientific sessions 2002 in Chicago.
