Blizzard impacts community blood supply

Colorado's community blood supply is expected to show a decrease to its 3-day supply due to the impact of the blizzard on the operations of Bonfils Blood Center.

The forced cancellation of blood drives and closure of Bonfils Blood Center resulted in a loss of about 600 units of blood each day. In addition, the Aurora Community Donor Center has structural damage, and is expected to be open in the next week. As a result, the community is encouraged to give blood in the days ahead.
