Blood-screening product sales help drives company's strong second quarter

Gen-Probe, Inc., (GPRO) reported its financial results for the second quarter and 6 months ended June 30, 2003.

Total revenues for the second quarter of 2003 were $50.7 million compared to $34.9 million for the second quarter of 2002, an increase of 45%.

Product sales for the second quarter of 2003 were $46.3 million, compared to $29.8 million for the second quarter of 2002, an increase of 55%. Net income for the second quarter was $8.1 million, or $0.34 per diluted share, compared to net income of $550,000, or $0.02 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2002.
