Lymphocyte dose correlated with survival after auto-SCT in NHL patients

Lymphocyte dose is strongly correlated with survival in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients treated with stem-cell autografts.

"Absolute lymphocyte count at day 15 (ALC-15) after autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (APHSCT) is an independent prognostic factor for survival" in NHL, scientists in the United States explained. However, "factors affecting ALC-15 remain unknown."

In a recent study, L.F. Porrata and colleagues at the Mayo Clinic tested their hypothesis that "dose of infused autograft lymphocytes (A-ALC) directly impacts upon ALC-15."
