Post-remission mobilization yields valuable DC precursors

Stem-cell mobilization in leukemia patients during remission yields high levels of DC precursors valued for their immunotherapy potential.

DCs are "potent antigen-presenting cells that can induce effective tumor-specific T-cell responses," hematologists in Spain noted.

In a recent study, J. Sanchez and colleagues at University Hospital Reina Sofia in Cordoba "investigated leukapheresis products as sources of DC precursors in 48 patients undergoing autologous peripheral blood stem-cell (PBSC) transplantation for hematological malignancies."
