Gene transfer is used to activate cytomegalovirus specific T cells. "Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. "The limitations of antiviral drugs and a better understanding of the cellular immune response to CMV has lead to the development of alternative therapies that restore host cellular immunity to CMV," scientists in France report.
