Maroni was previously vice president of clinical research at Amgen, Inc., in Thousand Oaks, California, where he was responsible for the anemia/nephrology therapeutic area.
Prior to joining Amgen, Maroni was associate professor of medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is an authority on the mechanisms responsible for malnutrition in patients with kidney disease.
