Couric presented with multiple myeloma leadership award

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) presented "Today Show" co-host Katie Couric with the MMRF Leadership Award at the 8th Annual Friends for Life Fall Gala at the Greenwich Hyatt in Greenwich, Connecticut.

The event raised nearly $1.3 million for the foundation and its mission to accelerate a cure for multiple myeloma.

"After her husband, Jay Monahan, died of cancer, Katie Couric helped so many others with the strength and courage she demonstrated to keep going during a most difficult time for herself, her children and others with cancer," said Kathy Giusti, president and co-founder of the MMRF.
