OBI-1, recombinant procine Factor VIII, to enter phase II clinical studies

Published in Blood Weekly, December 16th, 2004

Ipsen and Octagen announced that OBI-1, recombinant porcine Factor VIII, has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration agreement to enter phase II clinical studies in the United States.

The two companies are developing OBI-1 for the treatment of congenital and acquired hemophilia in patients who develop inhibitory antibodies to human Factor VIII.

Ipsen and Octagen also have a program for the development of OBI-2, a novel recombinant Factor VIII molecule based on human Factor VIII but engineered to have reduced immunogenicity.
