According to recent research from China, "This study was designed to determine the anti-proliferative, apoptotic properties of a novel polysaccharide from the loach, MAP, using a human promyelocytic leukemia line (HL-60) as a model system. HL-60 cells were cultured in the presence of MAP at various concentrations (50-800 mg/l) for 5 days and the percentage of cell viability was evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay."
