Clinical impact of anticoagulation duration determined

The impact of anticoagulation therapy duration on venous thromboembolism (VTE) outcome has been elucidated.

Patients with VTE "are susceptible to recurrent events, but whether prolonging anticoagulation is warranted in patients with VTE remains controversial," according to physicians in New York, who conducted a study to "quantify the risks and benefits of extending the duration of anticoagulation in patients with VTE."
