Reports advance knowledge in myocardial infarction research

Reports from the United States, Spain and United Kingdom highlight recent research on myocardial infarction.

Study 1: The use of sirolimus-eluting stents (SESs) improves the outcome of primary angioplasty in heart attack patients.

SESs "are currently being used in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)," but "have not been evaluated in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) by primary angioplasty," cardiologists in the United States explained.
